Boarding at the farm
Whats included, and whats not included.
We accept Mares and Geldings Only. We are not set up to accept Stallions at this time.
We feed Reliance 11P as a standard farm feed. The senior horses get Triple Crown Senior. If your horse requires extra feeding, rice bran pellets added, or beet pulp added, needs the feed watered down for various problems, thats included. If your horse is on an specialty feed, you are required to pay for it, and bring us the receipt and we will reimburse you for up what we pay for standard feed. Feeding time is a major event at the farm. We do not just dump and go. We are there with them in the barn, and in the field, until they are finished eating. Those that eat slower and are victims of the more agressive are pulled out of the field for feeding. Feeding is done on a strict schedule. 6-7am and 4-5pm.
Hay is high quality, locally grown, square bales only. No round bales are ever used on the farm.
We do standard de-worming according to Wagner Equine protocol. We also hold for the farm vet, and farrier on all occasions.
Blanketing, fly spraying, bell boots, fly mask administration, muzzles, and legwear is also included. If your stall boarded horse needs to be stalled 24 hours a day, there is a charge for extra bedding at our cost. If you have a field boarded horse that has to be stalled there is a 10.00 a day surcharge. If it goes above the cost for stall board it automatically reverts the the stall board rate.
Supplement administration is included. We do not charge extra for the number of supplements given. Its included whether its one or ten.
Emergencies
If there is a vet emergency, you will be notified immediatly. We will not put a horse's health at risk by waiting for you to call us back. We do not diagnose, we treat under the vet's direct instruction. We keep all sorts of medication on hand, if you do not wish to keep your own medications on hand then you can purchase ours and will pay per use.
Vaccinations are according to Wagner equine protocols, and a strangles vaccination is mandatory. No exceptions.
We send out blankets for cleaning. When they come back you are responsible for paying for the cleaning upon immediate pickup.
Turnout
We keep horses out as much as possible, however, inclement weather, or dangerous ground conditions may prevent turnout. We watch the weather and radar very carefully. There is night turnout during the summer months.
Horses are in pastures according to their behavior, and needs. Mares and geldings are kept separate. The fields were split into many turnouts so that pasture rotation is kept on schedule, and to keep the population per field down. We generally do a max of 4 per field. Fields were just reseeded with a blend of horse grasses. Fields are kept clipped at an appropriate level for health reasons. Hay is disbursed every few hours during the winter. Water troughs are clean and constantly monitored.
There are run in sheds in all turnouts, so that there is shelter for the horses. There is a water hydrant accesible at every field. If you have a horse that cannot be on grass all day, we have a dry paddock available.
Farm Fencing
All fencing is solid oak on pine posts. There are 3 rails on the interior portion with 4 rail against the outside of the property. The gates have been modified to make it impossible for them to be knocked off.
Horse checks
Horse checks are done many times per day. Anything unusual will be addressed immediately.
Tom Yetter, Barn Manager and Trainer, and the owners run the daily operations on the farm. The owners and management are available 24 hours a day by phone.
Lessons are offerred on a 1/2 hour for $35.00 or an hour for $50.00. please visit the Tom Yetter page for further information.
